97+ chop tops?

does anyone have pics of any cherokee 97+ with the back chopped or any chopping for that matter? other than the red AEV xj

This is not a good idea. The XJ is a unibody design. Unlike Broncos or Blazers, they need the roof for torsional stiffness and roll protection. I've seen it done before, but it has always been on rigs that a tube frame was built into.

there arent that many differences, i just wanted to see for the sake of it, seeing as i hadnt seen any except the AEV one, i wanted to see what people have done/if they had done it at all

That thing is the biggest POS ever. God I'd hate to be in that when it rolls. The freckin windshield would cut your head off and the "cage" would be crushed like a spider. That is the worst design ever. There is no triangulation

That is what it should look like if cut and rebuilt properly. Hmmm... If my roof just "blew off" maybe then my wife would let me get a roll cage...

Any idea who made that one RWB? Now that my Jeep is totaled, I am seriously considering going that route now, but I'd like to talk to guys who have done it before, see how they stiffened it up and see what they recommend I do.

Anyone know the legality of chopping the top, too? Particularly for Maine, but I might be out of here in a little over a year, most new england states would be of interest to me..

here's another slant back soft top XJ




edit: out of all the chopped XJ's, hackedXJ's is by far the best done.
