I read once about a 4.7L V8 short block hemi that could be swapped in without tooo much trouble (relatively speaking)... don't remember where though. That's what I've been wanting to do ever since :)

As for actual advice, well, I'll leave that to another poster ;)

i wouldnt think that would work with the computer and sensors....i think someone else asked this once...unless you're planning on doing away with the electrical system thats there and doing something different??? I'm not an expert though-- just get the 5.2 V8

Why put a Chevy engine in a Jeep. I you are going to go big, go with a 440. Yes, somebody is going to laugh at this and say it is not worth it, but this is my dream with my ZJ. And yes I know how much work it would be. If you can put a Hemi in a 70 VW Beatle you can put a 440 in a Jeep

Try putting in a Mopar 340. One hell of a little engine and closely related to the 5.2 and 5.9L.

Good Luck...

ok i was thinking about finding a chevy 350 carberated motor with a points system then run a wire and push button for the starter. ok so problem solved for the motor. but i was wondering when i disconect the motor harness i was gonna fold it up and zip tie it on a fender. but i am wondering will the inside stuff still work. like the windows and lights and stuff. will they work with the key still?

Imho I think swapping any engine into a ZJ is going to be more trouble than its worth.

Either stroke it, or sell it and buy a 5.2 ZJ

Save that 350 for a convertable K5 Blazer (maybe craigslist cheap with a bad motor) and then you'll have 2 sweet rigs, and ones like a big-@ss wrangler with a fresh V8!

everything except the cruise should work on the interior still. and if you decide to throw a carbureted engine into it say goodbye to reliable wheeling. carburetors + hills = flooded

edelbrock has a carburetor designed for offroad use, cant remember what it's called. I would still just put a 5.2 in it. putting a chevy motor in a mopar is like slapping god in the face
