Acceptable Engine Angle?

I am installing a NV4500 and it currently sits at 2.5*, sloped to the rear.

It is sitting on the skidplate (not mounted yet).

What I am trying to figure out is whether it can stay at 2.5*, go maybe to 0* or does it need to be nearer the "stock" engine angle of 5* (measured of a stock CJ that a buddy of mine has).

I can mount the NV now, but that will push the trans a little higher (clearing with a 1.25" body lift I hope) and that may push the engine more toward 0*.

I will be running an electric fan, so that isn't an issue.

I'll have to work out driveshaft angles as well. Need to give Tom Woods a call.

As long as you don't have clearance issues you should be able to run just about any angle you want.

I think people put too much thought into engine angle from an operating perspective. I think of the fact that we don't drive on perfectly level roads, so the engine angle really has nothing to do with how it runs, within reason.

It really isn't too big of an issue, just don't go over kill. I like to set my drivetrains up at 0* with the framerails level to the world.
