I've noticed recently that when I drive for a good 20 minutes or more the inside of the cab, noticeably down near the legs, gets very, uncomfortably, hot. The heater is turned off the entire time too. There has to be something wrong because I don't recall it ever getting this hot. Any ideas?

Exhaust is heating floor?

You say the heater is off, but could the flap be stuck open? I'd check the cables and see if things are shut properly. Yes the exhaust will warm the interior up, especially if you removed the carpet and and backing, but that is mostly in the back passenger area.

Do you still have carpet?

How about holes in the firewall? There great for heat and check the seal around the speedo cable on the 89 it is a bog one and if it has come loose or moved you will get some heat.

That could be it. I put in an electronic speedo (auto meter) and I never filled the hole up. I just ran the wires through it and left it as is.

You need to see what is hot. It can be the exhaust or the heater. Get down there and feel where it's coming from.

I had that feeling in mine. Turned out to be coming from the access plate under the shifters. It was like a jet stream of hot air blasting my ankles
Samsies. After further investigation I realized the PO must have had the plate off and never put all the screws back in
x3 on the floor plate. The mounting screws on mine had backed out a ways and was allowing searing hot air to blow through. I was also getting a fair amount of draft from the top of the shift boot for the xfer case (I have an auto). I ran a thick bead of RTV under the edge of the floor plate and screwed it back down. Then I hung a baseball cap on the xfer shifter and haven't had any issues yet.

Although for some reason the hair around my ankles doesn't grow anymore.
