I have a 1982 CJ5 that has manual steering, Does anyone have any insight on or off what year jeeps i can take a power steering box and pump from and it would bolt up without modifications?

76 to 86 CJs with PS, you can also source most of the brackets from Ebay. What engine do you have? I6 and v8 amc's should be easier to find PS parts for. MORE offroad makes a very nice steering box bracket. Rockauto still has the stock jeep box and pump.

Double check to make sure the spline counts are the same or you may need a new steering shaft.

I may be thinking of a Jtruck box upgrade tho.
If the diameter/spline count isn't the same, a new bell coupler at the end of the shaft is all that's needed, not an entirely new shaft. CJ manual box input shafts are 3/4", as are FSJ boxes. Oddly enough the CJ power box has a 13/16" input shaft.

The Saginaw manual and power boxes will swap, the bolt holes are the same. A 4 hole will it over your 3 holes.

Saginaw 800 was used on small jeeps but the 808 can also be fitted. The 808 is a larger unit. From around 1982 they changed to metric fittings, so be careful with which one you have before ordering hoses.

If you want stock pump it is a Saginaw but you will need the brackets which are harder to find. Then the hoses. the lower steering column will not fit the new box, you can get a custom one built.

One of my CJ and my LR have a Toyota pump with remote reservoir and an early to mid 80s Nissan style gearbox. Anything can be made to fit.

I threw away the bell coupler on my last foray into the steering, it is a junk design prone to wear. Universal joints are readily available in many sizes if you can identify the sizes, as are bare shafts.

CSP, and I have been wheeling for years with a bell coupler. but I just don't like them, prone to wear IMHO but over a large number of years. I would not have thrown away the last one unless it had disintegrated and I had 30 degrees of steering wheel play.

Depending where the pump came off of, your engine is probably not the same.
