I priced out a driveshaft through carolina driveline and it was like 300 dollars to my door which isnt bad. I want a new one if I decide on one so please no used suggestions. The bottom line is I want a 4" lift on 33s either 10.5 or 12.5 width havent decided and I would like suggestions on this too. The question is do I really need to replace the driveshaft because I seem to see people not doing this quite a bit. I want to do my lift successfully without consequences so please inform me. I did search, but didnt have direct answers. 4.0 engine and 106k miles. Thanks ahead of time

I am on 4.5" with 31x10.50. Wheels are 15x8 with 4" BS soft 8's. You are going to have to trim a lot if you want to run a 12.5 width. I had to replace my front driveshaft. I took out the c/v joint shaft and got a double cardon shaft from a v8. No issues since. Been a couple years. It got rid of some of my vibrations. What all are you getting with the lift?

I decided after talking to nick from kolak to go with a 4" base kit from IRO with front adjustable upper and lower control arms. I also am getting the coil spring isolators and a new SS. I am going with the bilstein shocks. I think that is everything and the setup seems good what do you think?

My front DS lasted ~1000 miles before grenading after my 3" lift. The Jeep was at ~135k miles then. I had a second car, so it wasn't a big deal to me at the time. The Jeep sat in the driveway while I waited on a new DS from carolina driveline.

I'd suggest either buying and installing a longer DS at the time of the lift, or at the very least, having another driveshaft ready and waiting for when the DS does fail.

He doesnt seem to be worried about any of these issues and I am prepared to tackle them. It does come with the TC drop but I will play that by ear. He said he is not concerned with death wobble. I think this is mainly due to me getting the adjustable arms and track bar with the tc drop to fix all the angles. Does this sound right?

Just put my lift on two weeks ago, this past Friday the rezeppa joint crapped the bed and this is on a low mile vehicle. Called Carolina Driveline and picked up my new shaft on Monday. Definitely recommend them. Good people.

Hi.
I lifted my jeep 4 inch with IRO springs and shocks still using all stock control arms and no transfer case drop with 265 70 17 (31.5") tyres and 1.25" wheel spacers on standard rims (50.8mm offset standard 30mm with the spacers) with no rubbing. Well maybe a touch to the front plastic bumper but no trimming required. I ran the jeep for 2 years with this lift and was very happy.

More importantly to answer your question i also fitted a tom woods front drive shaft double double cardan

This was to replace my rezzepa rezzepa cv joint front shaft which didnt last long.

I had to buy a new front shaft it seems almost all jeeps in the UK have the rezzepa cv front shaft I couldnt find a second hand double cardan shaft

They are much more plentyful in the states.

My next move was to fit a long arm kit. Much better. I wish I would of got the long arm kit first off and fitted it from day one.

I now have 305 70 16 tyres (33 inch x 12" I think) on now with the 4 inch long arm lift.

I had to cut the arches out front and rear quite a lot (1.5 - 2" all round) and i cut my spotlights out of the front bumper too. And ended up fitting the fender flares to cover the wider tyres.

I have black modular rims with a +10mm offset. 48mm more offset than standard.

It drives great and with the dual steering stabilizer no death wobble at all. Without the stabilizer I did have scary death wobble. The dual stabilizer cleared it up for me.

A double cardan front shaft is needed and some trimming to the fenders to fit 33" tyres on 4" lift along with new rims with a greater offset or wheel spacers. Perhaps a +10mm offset for the 10.5" wide and maybe a 0mm offset or more for the 12.5" wide tyres

If I had my time again i would have bought the long arm kit first off.

Hope this helps
