Hi i am sorry i did not find any help for this thru search, so please try to light my problem.

I am a newbie in wrangler-world, just got one (not off-roaded, plain jane wrangler-91, 2.5MPI,man), and first thing i started to worry when the check engine did not light when ignition was on.
Surprise, the bulb was out, so i replaced it, checked the codes:

its givin me 12-33-55.
meaning; air cond clutch relay circuit.
Funny thing is, that I DONT HAVE AC?!!!

What could be to problem, and more; what could be the reason for the trouble code 33. Previous owner said he had the radiator replaced, but everything looks very nice and original under hood. Official water hoses, all heat socks, shields etc on place.

Thanks a lot for replies!

It's no biggy, mine doesn't have A/C and it throws that code too. I think it has to be with the circuit open like telly said above. Looks like you don't have any problems. Code 12 is just the battery and 55 means the readings are done.

great to hear, i was just wondering if the ac would have been removed in earlier history. is it normal that also non-ac models are equipped with bracket over the alternator that has 4 threaded holes for a/c compressor?

i was hoping all answers would be supporting the first comment. thanks. :)

I have that bracket but no A/C either. I'm pretty sure every jeep has that bracket even though they didn't come with AC. Look on the bright side, you already have the mount for On-Board-Air! :D

Anybody have good idea how to block the trouble code to show up, since its unnecessary?
I was hoping to have the check engine light working so it would do its work.
Now it illuminates because of open connector, right?
Is there way to "close" that connector. I bet this was the reason why the light was broken! it has been on all the time...

...or even better, anybody wants to sell cheap their a/c system...? :D

Mine does it too. The light never comes on but if I read the codes, it is one of them. I didn't think it was a good thing when I saw it either, but every non-ac YJ I have been in says it. I went over to my neighbor's house to make sure his did it too. If anyone finds anything that says something is actually wrong, let me know. Take care.
