4x4 and AWD they mean two different things. Love the wk2 but being truthful when selling a high price item is important. If jeep put AWD on the back I would have paid the extra to get the 4x4 with low gear- jeep ,sales guy and me would be happier.

Are you sure you know what the difference is? And if you do, why don't you name some vehicles that are a true 4x4. Not trying to be snobby, but the answer to this question is insightful.

Dunno what you mean by this, as the AWD and 4x4 distinction has been muddy for decades.Typically 4x4 is more desirable for off road or the most adverse weather. Most manufacture that put a AWD transfer case and then add BTC call them 4x4s. Traditionalist won't call a vehicle a 4x4 unless it has a low range case. Those jeep models with the higher priced transfercase have low range and are therefore true 4x4s. For models without low range (QTI) one can argue one way or another.

Many folks, especially in the southern US, buy 2wd versions, mostly for for towing, but there are a wide variety of reasons..

I bought a `14 Limited. Even though it was a great car, I did regret not getting 4x4. After 18 months I was able to trade it in on a `15 4x4 without taking a beating on the trade. Other than the dealership I bought the `14 from, no regrets at all.

awd is that awd all the time. 4x4 means i can go from 2x4 to 4x4.

Back on topic - no, zero regrets! I LOVE my 14 Overland and it's my first Jeep ever, and only my 3rd ever "American" car (whatever that means anymore!) The Jeep replaced my Subaru. The JGC has been flawless since I bought it 11 months and 13,000 miles ago.

I would ABSOLUTELY buy it again and in fact my wife is replacing her Prius with a "regular" 2015 Cherokee Limited. Order has been place. We love our Jeep!!

I have a 2012 Overland loaded and love it! Use it for pulling a camper, trips in comfort and mild Off Road. Took it to a Jeep Jamboree and amazedeverybody. It's an all around vehicle. Very few problems. Shifts perfect and the Hemi has lots of power. Mileage is 19 combined. Quadtra-Lift is great to have.

A few people in this thread are also probably mad that their piano doesn't mow the lawn. If you want a true off-road capable car, get a Wrangler. If you want a perfect ride, get a big cadillac. If you want the Swiss Army knife of cars, with a little bit of everything, get a Grand Cherokee. It's a balancing act of wants and needs, and it pays to do your research....so you don't have a tow hook fiasco...or the validation that your underpaid and under appreciated car salesmen doesn't know where everything is on the car. (I'm not a car salesmen, but I absolutely do feel for them because the Internet made their jobs nightmares, and I unfortunately contribute to that when price shopping). The JGC didn't pick you...you picked the JGC.
This post went unnoticed and under appreciated.

I don't regret buying my 2012 V8 Overland and were it not for the poor reliability would not think twice about buying a current model when this one is done. With that said, a lot of my peace of mind comes from the lifetime wrap warranty I have on it which has paid for itself several times over already. The time spent at the dealer and the inconvienience of the issues are what might keep me from coming back but not that I dislike the truck, I actually love it.

Had to have transmission replaced on mine under warranty within the 1st year of ownership, but other than that, I love how smooth and luxurious it is and how I can still drive it up the side of a mountain trail, transport my Hobie Pro Angler on the roof racks, tow it behind my RV when I go on a trip, and it has enough tow capacity to pull my 19ft Ranger Bass Boat. Not a lot of vehicles can do all of this, so I would definitely buy another one again. There is a Jeep Dealership that has a website that sells the extended warranty's that I got a lifetime service contract that covers almost everything mechanical for $2,200.00. Just Google "Jeep Extended Warranty" or something like that. It is a dealer in IL if I remember right.

I got a quote from the IL dealership (lower than regular) took it with us when we flew to NM to pick up our NEW JGC in Feb and the NM dealership matched the price so I rolled the cost into the original loan. I'd have to search through email at home to find the name, but the lady manager in IL was very responsive to my online query (within minutes).

After coming up on 5 years and only 40k miles we have no regrets. The only money I have spent on it other than oil is for a new battery a month or two ago. It did go in for warranty a couple years ago with the crank but no start issue but has been good after that. The passenger side is not blowing heat but after reading up on it here I may be able to fix that for 5 bucks hopefully. It's the the wife's vehicle and and she is wanting to look at the Grand Wagon when it comes out but the thought of ditching this one isn't easy for me. I bought a new Ram last summer so I don't need it if we get the Wagon but I do have an empty slot in the 3 car garage so we will see. I thought about taking it over and buying the wife a new one instead of a new truck but no self respecting West Texan can live without a pickup. :)

I dont "regret" my purchase per se, but I do have a few gripes. First I should have gotten 4wd. I bought 2wd and litterally 400 miles later i found myself stuck in some sand that the 4wd could have gotten out of. had to call for a tow. later, i found myself living in texas during a nice heavy snow and ice season. awd would have been nice. that one is my fault.
whats not my fault is:

noisy rear suspension. on certain small bumps (speed bumps) at low speed the rear suspension "bonks.." sometimes. dealer "couldnt replicate"

about 1000 miles in my driver side front seat started making a clicking and creaking noise while riding. figured out that whenever I would hit a bump or lean the seat creaks like a old recliner unless the seat is cranked all the way down. dealer said they would order and then i never heard anything about it.

ever since the first tank of gas i had to put in the jeep, i actually couldnt fill the tank with most fuel nozzles without them pumping in a couple of ounces and then shutting off. most of the problem was while having to use the new EPA filler nozzles. a REAL PITA to take 20 mins to fill up my tank because i have to go a oz at a time. the first time I was filling and the pump didnt shut off I thought i was doing good, until i saw fuel pouring out from behind my rear wheel. i run over to see my liner soaked with gasoline and the filler neck belching fuel. at this point it had only pumped about 4 gal into a almost empty tank. dealer said they would order the part. again, nothing ever came of it.

recently ive discovered that my driver rear bumper wrap is "loose" as in you can grab the end near the wheel well and jiggle it easily back and forth. maybe related to the previous fuel spill.

the front passenger fender panel also creaks and seems to have developed a paint peel right near the headlight. i assume from the rubbing.

other than that its been a great vehicle. pulls my trailer way better than my old 4.7 dakota ever did and with plenty of MPGs. nice ride and good looking. if i didnt tow a trailer on a semi regular basis i would probably consider a Hyundai or something more sporty. but as far as SUVs go, its the best bang for the buck given what i need to do.

Wow, I missed this thread first time through - there's a lot of BS in it.

I'll just throw in another report of - 40k+ miles, 3 years, couldn't be happier.
