2011 sport model. Tire light on. Can't get a reasonable answer anywhere. Yes check wheel sensors, or its one of 3(?) Pick ups located somewhere on the frame. Is there a way to tell before I pay a shop to check tires. And everything I read says there's a tpms reset button near the steering wheel...which I can't find.

Tire shops have a TPMS sensor tester that they can go wheel to wheel with to find a bad sensor. A scanner that can read body modules can read DTCs that may lead you to the problem and reset the TPMS.

The TPMS module automatically monitors all the sensors and will adapt to changes. There is a sensor in each tire and a receiver module near the rear axle. The module reads the rpm and direction to determine which side the sensors are on and a signal level measurement to determine front or rear axle.

I dunno where you are reading a TPMS reset button, Jeeps don't have them. Probably the reason you can't find it.

The module can fail, or one or more tire sensors can have their batteries wear out.

Does the tire indicator flash for several seconds and then go steady?

Yes. Sometimes it takes several seconds to illuminate, but it always flashes then goes steady

TPMS light flashing for several seconds before turning solid on is an indication of a system error. Most often a dead battery in a sensor. If your Jeep doesn't have a display for each tire's pressure, you will need special tools to isolate. Or just replace all the sensors.

Tire shops usually have specialized scanners that can read module data. I dunno how to check this otherwise on a Jeep without the individual tire pressure indicators you get with premium options.

Funny thing about tire sensors. I had a cracked wheel, I bought a wheel from the junkyard, a sensor from Amazon. The reviews for the sensor said they drove it for a few miles and it worked. Mine didn't. I installed it in early August. I didn't bother trying to get it working, because I've had too much to do lately. This morning (October 3), it decided to work. I have a 2012 Jet Limited that displays the pressure. Hopefully it keeps working. My plan is to send the cracked wheel to the alloy and get it fixed and use it for a spare. My display says spare tire low, but it's not. It is very rusty and the tire is cracked all over. I wouldn't trust it.
