Hi all! We're getting our 2002 Jeep Liberty LTD ready to tow 4-down behind our RV. The missing link at the moment is wiring...

Looks like we're going to go for the 7-pin setup from the RV - that gives us extra pins for trickle charging the Jeep's battery while towing (plus a couple of extra pins for other towed stuff later).

I haven't found a dedicated all-in-one kit, so I'll have to put the pieces together (including diodes, and all that fun stuff). Anybody else on the forum rigged your own wiring for your Liberty (not just the standard 4-pin kit)?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
Chris

Chris, The 4 wire is easy with a kit. Plugs into tail harness. Etrailer has it. As for the seven. I just put one on my 06. Tied into the 4 for basic lights and got a kit from etrailer to run the brake wire. Now I have hook up for both 4 and 7. If your doing 7 does your trailer have brakes? If so you need a brake controller also. Not hard to do did mine last weekend. Mk

And I read your post wrong. Your towing the liberty. You can get a 7 to 4 adapter and stick with 4 wire

Sorry I didn't get to reply earlier. Which specific kit did you go with? The ones I'm finding splice into the wiring separately on the driver's and passenger's sides. Would love to be able to just plug-n-play into the existing harness (like when you wire up to pull a trailer with the Jeep). Could I just splice all the wires in at that point, or is there an earlier place to cut in (like under the hood and use the existing wiring to go to the back)?

Thanks again!
Chris
